Our Story
The ministry was founded by Wycliffe Simiyu Khagula and his wife Jane Khagula. Wycliffe worked for years in Kenya’s judicial system, beginning as a court clerk and later rising to become a lay magistrate. He later worked within cooperatives, which gave him the opportunity to learn from different cultures. Throughout his life, he remained passionate about strengthening uplifting communities from poverty.
After retirement, Wycliffe and Jane relocated from Nairobi to Bungoma, where they started a small milling business. During their daily routines, they began encountering heartbreaking realities in the community — children abandoned in marketplaces, neglected in homes, abused, or left without parents.
One day, Jane discovered a baby abandoned. Acting immediately, she rescued the child. When nobody came forward to take responsibility, Jane and Wycliffe embraced the child as their own. Soon after, another abandoned baby was left at their doorstep.
As years passed, more children found refuge within their home — children who had lost parents, suffered abuse, been abandoned. What began with a few children quickly grew into a large family.
To accommodate the growing number of children, they expanded their semi-permanent home. Eventually, Vision of Faith Home was registered as a community-based organization.
